Stop Motion Animation Project

This is a group project. Allister Jones, Martin Laver and myself. We started this project by brain storming ideas. We want to create a stop motion animation that has a good concept behind it. We started thinking about a public awarness animation that could be used across different devices from Viral advertising to mobile phone to idents.

Some of the areas we were looking at Time and motion. Time can be explored in various ways. Measuring the passing of time can be a powerful concept by asking what we do with our time - do we use it effectively this animation is to remind people about time. We thought about making windup toys out of plastercine and make them look like they are wound up using clockwork process and they will keep going until the 'spring' wears out - a metaphor for time having a measured value.

We liked the idea of bringing our clockwork characters together and allowing them to interact which should promote community and the coming together of people.

This idea of bringing people together is one that seems to be getting less as we live more insular lives and keep ourselves to ourselves.

We want to continue to develop the idea of promoting valuable use of time.

First thoughts on aesthetics - we want this piece to be very clean and pure with minimal disruptions.

We were thinking of using minimal colour schemes and minimal sound - maybe the ticking of a clock.

As this is a group project we have decided to have a group blog so you can read our group blog by clicking this link. Stop Motion Project
